Magic can happen!
45 COOLeaders from 15 different countries Creating Peace. Together. From 25 August until 27 August the truly transformative conference “EYE 2023 | COOLeaders; European Youth Leaders Empowered” took place in Sečovce, Slovakia.
The main goal of the EYE 2023 conference was capacity building and skills training of youth leaders and civil society organizations and sharing of best practices and knowledge, both from EU CEI Member States and non-EU CEI Member States and beyond.
The conference started with an exciting day with the focus on sharing of best practised and knowledge. Many great ideas were shared and toolkits, books and inspiration were spread throughout the conference room. In addition, cultural values and history were shared amidst breathaking Vysoke Tatry landscapes, connecting to each other and to nature. From tranquil moments to vibrant brainstorming, the magic of collaboration unfolded.
On the second day we explored Doughnut Economics, Artivism and Social Entrepreneurship. Through several innovative workshops, sharing of methodologies, deep dives into projects and impact the CSOs and youth leaders grew their understanding, skills and knowledge. The present youth leaders have empowered each other, shared their expertise, found connections and collaboration opportunities and build the foundations to scale their projects and methodologies and grow together to further develop and add new approaches. And this all in the inspiring backdrop of the school “Spojena Skola” in Sečovce, a dynamic backdrop to the conference.
Adding a deeper cultural and personal layer to the conference, we closed the second day by demonstrating our unwavering solidarity with the Ukrainian people, culminating in a heartfelt storytelling session by our colleague Taras from MasterPeace Ukraine. With a powerful method it connecting with all youth leaders to reflect on the questions how you deal with being a changemaker under pressure.
On the second and third day, we also further connected to nature and to our human skills through different play methodologies and workshops. We raised our voices in unity and sang the Earth Heartbeat song, a symbol of peace and unity with the earth.
Through all activities, the conference supported building capacities of the present CSOs and staff members through development of core competences and methodological expertise on innovative methodologies to engage, connect and empower our final beneficiaries, the youngsters. The in-person evaluation shared our ow feeling, the conference exceeded the expectations. Magic did happen in all layers.
